Heaven Figueroa notched 19 points with nine rebounds and six steals to lead the Lehman College women's basketball team to its first victory since 2018 against the Baruch College after a 76-57 CUNYAC road win on Wednesday evening at the ARC Arena. The Lightning improved to a 10-8 overall record and 5-2 in CUNYAC action, while the Bearcats dropped to an 8-10 mark and 4-3 in conference play.
After Baruch jumped out to a 30-24 halftime lead, Lehman bounced back in the third quarter with a 35 to 16 run to take a 13-point advantage. In the fourth period, the Lightning continued as it outscored the hosts 17 to 11 to end a 13-game losing streak against the Bearcats. The last win by Lehman was 91-69, on February 19, 2018.
Guard
Nelson Asamoah scored 16 points with seven rebounds and six assists for the Lightning, while teammate
Isabela Araujo and forward Musharafa Muniru added 11 points each.
Lehman is back in action on Friday (January 23rd) when it travels to take on Brooklyn College, in a CUNYAC encounter, at 5 pm ET.
