Brooklyn, N.Y. – Guard Nelson Asamoah scored 18 points and dished out seven assists to lead the Lehman College women's basketball team to an 88-48 victory against the hosts Medgar Evers College, in a CUNYAC encounter, at the Cougar Cave on Wednesday evening. The Lightning improved to 7-6 overall record and 2-1 in conference action, while the Cougars dropped to a 2-11 mark and 1-2 in CUNYAC play.
After jumping out to a 15-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, Lehman went on a 26 to 6 run in the second period to increase its advantage to 27 points (41-14) at the intermission. The Lightning never looked back as it shot 46 percent from the field, while the Cougars were held to just 24%.
Guard Isabela Araujo notched 17 points for Lehman, while teammate Heaven Figueroa had 15 points and six steals. Guard Emily Kennedy added 10 points with nine rebounds.
The Lightning continues its road swing on Friday (January 9th) when it takes on CCNY, in a CUNYAC match-up, at Manhattan's Nat Holman Gym with tip-off set for 5 pm ET.
