Box Score Bronx, N.Y. – Despite a 'double-double' performance from Alanis Vasquez, the Lehman College women's volleyball team fell in a grueling five-set battle to visiting Maritime College on Friday evening at The APEX Main Gym. The non-conference match ended in scores of 21-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-23, and 9-15. With the result, the Lightning fall to a 2-15 overall record, while the Privateers improve to 4-18.

The match was a back-and-forth affair from start to finish. After dropping the opening frame, Lehman fought back immediately to claim the second set and tie the match. Maritime recaptured the momentum by winning the third set, but the Lightning refused to go down quietly, rallying to take the fourth set and force a decisive tiebreaker. Ultimately, the Privateers found their rhythm early in the fifth set to secure the victory.

Vasquez led the way for Lehman, anchoring the team with 11 kills and 19 digs. Ayah Hamdaoui also recorded a 'double-double,' orchestrating the offense with 21 assists while adding 11 digs. Olivia Boothe provided a strong secondary scoring option, finishing the night with nine kills.

The Lightning will look to bounce back as they continue their home stand at The APEX Main Gym next Tuesday, October 27th. Lehman will host Brooklyn College for a CUNYAC conference match-up, with the first serve scheduled for 6 pm ET.
