Men’s Basketball Finish Perfect In CUNYAC After Topping John Jay

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team became the first side since 2016-17 campaign (Staten Island) to finished undefeated in CUNYAC regular season, with an unblemished 14-0 record, after topping visiting John Jay College, 71-66, at The APEX Main Gym on Tuesday evening.  The #1-seeded Lightning go to a 19-6 overall ledger, while the Bloodhounds fall to a 9-16 mark and 7-7 in conference play.

After Lehman had a 20-point advantage (50-30) five minutes into the second half, John Jay went on a 33 to 15 run to cut the lead to just two points (65-63) with 1:36 remaining.   However, the Lightning outscored the Bloodhounds 6 to 3 to close out the game and post the victory.

Guard Kofi Mends registered 14 points to lead the Lehman offense, while forward Tyler Harts posted 13 points and teammate Ricardo Dixon had a 'double-double' with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

The Lightning, as the CUNYAC Regular Season winner, earns an opening round bye at the CUNYAC Championship and will hosts the winner of the #4-seeded York College against #5-seeded John Jay next Tuesday (February 24th) at The APEX Main Gym.
