Women’s Basketball Defeat John Jay

Bronx, N.Y. – For the first time since the 2017-18 season, the Lehman College women's basketball team will play a home encounter during the upcoming CUNYAC Championships as it concluded the regular season with a 15-10 overall record and the #3-seeded in the playoffs with a 10-4 conference ledger after defeating visiting John Jay College (10-15; 8-6 CUNYAC), 67-50, on Tuesday evening at The APEX Main Gym.

The Lightning, which posted its first winning record in the last six seasons, took a 12-point lead over the Bloodhounds into the intermission.  In the third quarter, John Jay attempted a comeback as it outscored the hosts 14 to 11.  However, Lehman bounced back with a 17 to 9 run in the fourth period for the victory.

Guard Emily Kennedy led the Lightning offense as she was an assist (nine) shy of a 'triple-double' scoring 18 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.  Guard Heaven Figueroa also had a 'double-double' as she recorded 16 points and 10 steals, while posting eight rebounds.

Lehman is scheduled to hosts #6-seeded CCNY in the opening round of the CUNYAC Championship on Saturday (February 21st) at The APEX Main Gym.
