The # 3 seed Lehman College Women's basketball squad dominated # 6 CCNY (6-18) cruising to a 94-55 victory over the Beavers. It was the third time the Lightning prevailed over City College this season. Lehman moves on to play # 2 seed Hunter on Tuesday night in Manhattan.
Five players tallied double figures on the afternoon.
Heaven Figueroa led the way with 24 points while
Sage Fanelli and
Isabela Araujo added 15 apiece. Nelson Araujo and
Emily Kennedy chipped in12 and 11 points respectively.
The Lightning pressure defense forced 32 turnovers and limited the Beavers to 16-54 (.296) field goals.
The Beavers owned a 7-5 advantage midway through the first quarter but Lehman ended the period on a 20-4 run and never looked back. The Lightning extended their lead by halftime outscoring City 27-17 in the second quarter. Lehman did not let winning the third quarter 28-14 and the fourth quarter 14-13 for the final margin of victory. The 94 points scored were a season high as were the 13 made three pointers.
The Lightning improve to 16-10 on the season.
