The Lehman College Lightnings dropped both games of a Saturday doubleheader at Penn State Brandywine, falling 15-2 in Game 1 and 14-0 in Game 2 in non-conference action.
In Game 1, Penn State Brandywine jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Lehman broke through in the third inning when Brandon Deynes grounded out to drive in Dominic Malandro, putting the Lightning on the board. The offense struck again in the fourth as Nicholas Curiel delivered an RBI single that plated Bruce Garcia, cutting into the deficit. Despite those efforts at the plate, Brandywine maintained control to secure the 15-2 victory.
In Game 2, the Lightning continued to compete but were unable to generate offense against Brandywine's pitching staff. Lehman worked to create opportunities on the basepaths and recorded key defensive outs, but the hosts carried their momentum into the nightcap and closed out the twin bill with a 14-0 win.
The Lightning will look to regroup and respond in their next doubleheader against FDU-Florham in Madison, New Jersey on Saturday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m.
