Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team fell in a CUNYAC twin-bill against visiting Brooklyn College (14-1, 6-0), at South Field, on Saturday. The Lightning go to a 1-13 overall ledger and 0-4 in CUNYAC action, while the Bulldogs improved to a 9-17 mark and 2-2 in conference play.
The highlight for Lehman in the opener was shortstop
Nicolle Swierczek as she went one-for-two with a run scored, while infielders
Damaris Adames and
Patty Sanchez went one-for-three each from the plate.
In the nightcap, the Lightning only trailed 1-0 after three innings, however the Bulldogs added runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth before closing out the scoring in the seventh with two for the victory. Sanchez was one-for-two, while infielders
Miley Estrella,
Sky Rodriguez and outfielder
Catalina Hernandez each added a hit for Lehman. Also, on the mound, Adames struck out a season-high five batters.
The Lightning are back in action next Tuesday (April 14th) as it hosts University of Mount St. Vincent in a non-conference doubleheader at South Field with first pitch set for 2 pm ET.
