Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team fell in a non-conference twin-bill (13-5, 15-5) to visiting University of Mount St. Vincent at South Field on Tuesday. The Lightning go to a 1-15 overall record, while the Dolphins improved to an 8-15 mark.
In the opener, Mount St. Vincent took a 5-0 lead in the top of the second before Lehman answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the deficit two (5-3). However, the Dolphins outscored the Lightning 8 to 2 in the next five innings for the victory. Shortstop
Patty Sanchez went two-for-four with a run scored and RBI for Lehman, while catcher
Leilani Tejada was two-for-four and drove in a run. Infielder
Lanaiyah Henriquez was two-for-three with a run scored, while pitcher
Damaris Adames crossed Home-plate twice and had an RBI. Despite the loss on the mound, Adames struck out a career-high 11 batters.
In the nightcap, Mount St. Vincent once again had a 5-3 lead early on, however it outscored Lehman 10 to 2 in the next four innings for the doubleheader sweep. Adames went two-for-three with two RBI, while infielder
Sky Rodriguez went two-for-two with a run scored and RBI.
The Lightning are back in action on Friday (April 17th) when it takes on John Jay College in a CUNYAC twin-bill at Kean University with first pitch set for 4 pm ET.
