The Lightning and Bloodhounds split a pair of games today in a doubleheader played at Houlihan Park on the Fordham University campus. Lehman took the opener 7-1 in 8 innings and fell in the nightcap 5-1. The Lightning end the regular season 5-20 overall and 3-9 in conference play. Lehman will enter the CUNYAC Post Season Tournament as the #3 seed and will face either CCNY or Baruch on Tuesday afternoon.
In game one, the Bloodhounds scored first in the home half of the fourth. But a Carlos Silfa home run, his first of the season, tied the game in the sixth. Lehman exploded for 6 runs in the eighth to earn the victory. Steven Santos led off the frame drawing a four pitch walk. Luke Friscoe then proceeded to reach on error advancing to second while Santos scored. Silfa then singled through the left side and stole second while Friscoe moved t0 third. Argenis Sanchez singled through the right side scoring Friscoe while Silfa advanced to third. After Sanchez stole second, Leniel RIvera singled through the right side scoring Sanchez and Silfa. Rivera advanced to second on a Daniel McCrink sacrifice bunt.Yojancel Almonte reached on a fielder's choice as RIvera was gunned down at third. Jediel Pegeuero then homered to left adding a bit of insurance for the Lightning. DeShawn Ansah Pena went the distance for the Lightning, surrendering only one run in 8 innings to pick up his third win of the season.
In the night cap, the Lightning scored in the top of the first as RIvera homered over the left field fence. The Bloodhounds tied the game in the fourth, as a lead off walk came back to bite the Lightning when the player scored on a double later in the inning. John Jay scored four runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth to pull away en route to victory.
