Bronx, N.Y. – A standout 10-save performance by goalkeeper
Katelyn Rice wasn't enough as the Lehman College women's soccer team fell 3-0 to the visiting College at Old Westbury in a non-conference match-up at South Field on Tuesday. With the loss, the Lightning drop to 1-2 overall, while the Panthers improve to 1-0-1.
Old Westbury opened the scoring early, finding the back of the net in the 13th minute with a tally from forward Adriana Leon. The Lightning defense dug in after the initial strike, keeping the deficit at just a single goal for the remainder of the first half.
The Panthers struck again six minutes into the second half when forward Jamie Garcia Sorto converted a corner kick from defender Camryn Volpe to make it 2-0. Midfielder Zamira Mena Sequeira closed out the scoring with just 10 minutes remaining to seal the 3-0 final for Old Westbury.
Lehman will look to bounce back and conclude its four-game home-stand at South Field on Thursday, September 17, when the team welcomes Cairn University. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 pm ET.
