Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's soccer team dropped a 9-0 non-conference decision to visiting Cairn University on Thursday afternoon at South Field. With the loss, the Lightning move to 1-3 overall, while the Highlanders improved to 4-1.
Cairn's offense was powered by forward Josey Smith, who recorded a hat trick and added an assist. Teammate Ella Quince also turned in a strong performance, netting two goals and distributing a pair of assists.
Despite the tough outcome, Lehman saw resilient performances in net from goalkeepers
Katelyn Rice and
Kaylee Flores, who combined for 13 saves. Rice recorded seven saves during her time in goal, while Flores registered six.
The Lightning will look to bounce back on Monday, September 21, when they host Medgar Evers College in another non-conference matchup at South Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm ET.
