The 411 on Simone Byrd

Simone Byrd will be entering her second season for the Lehman College Lightning after playing sparingly for the team a year ago. A durable option for Head Coach Eric Harrison, Byrd participanted in all 31 of Lehman's contests during the 2008-2009 campaign, starting five of them and averaging just over 12 minutes per contest. The senior has worked extremely hard in the offseason in attempt to increase her minute total for the upcoming season.

The Wyoming native will be called upon this season to be a presence on the defensive side of the floor. This offseason, she gave special attention to improving her perimeter game and hopes to contribute in that aspect of the game as well. She will likely compete for playing time at both the small forward and shooting guard positions.

If Byrd shows early season promise, she could become a major factor for the Lightning down the stretch of this season.
