Jon Hochberg joined the Lehman College Department of Athletics in December of 2012, serving as an Associate Director of Athletics, and added the title of Associate Head Coach Coach for the men's basketball program.
Hochberg will assist in the daily operations of Lehman’s 18 NCAA Division III sports, and will serve as a main point of contact with the Lehman College Department of Admissions. He will also serve under current head men’s basketball coach Steve Schulman, working with the post players, as well as doing scouting and recruiting work.
He comes to Lehman College after serving as the first ever Director of Athletics, Recreation and Student Services for Vaughn College, in Flushing, N.Y. After a stint as an admissions counselor, he also worked as the head men’s basketball coach.
As the basketball coach at Vaughn, he led the Warriors to a 13-17 overall record in a year and a half, coaching three HVMAC All-Conference players. Prior to Vaughn, he was the head women’s basketball coach at Stevens Institute of Technology, in Hoboken, N.J., where he guided the Ducks to the post-season in each of his five seasons. He amassed a record of 106-39 during that span, guiding Stevens to the Empire 8 Conference Championship in 2009, and advancing to the Second Round of the NCAA Championships. A steadfast recruiter, he was named the Empire 8 Coach of the Year in 2008, as Stevens won the ECAC Metro Championship.
Before Stevens, Hochberg served as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Division II Pace University in Pleasantville, N.Y., and NJCAA Mohawk Valley Community College, in Utica, N.Y. Twice his teams advanced to the Elite Eight of the national tournament – in 2000 with MVCC, and in 2001 with Pace.
He has also worked several prestigious camps and clinics during his career, including the camps with the Philadelphia 76ers, Marist College, the University of Central Florida, Boston College, Nike, and the Gary Williams Basketball Camp, held at the University of Maryland.
Originally from Woodstock, N.Y., he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY IT, in Utica, where he served as the team captain his senior year. He earned his Master's Degree in Physical Education from Adelphi University in 2013. He currently resides in Queens, N.Y.
