SOFTBALL DROPS NON-CONFERENCE CONTEST TO MOUNT SAINT MARY BLUE KNIGHTS

The Lehman College softball team (2-15 overall, 0-5 CUNYAC) fell to Mount Saint Mary College (5-14 Overall) Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference game by the score of 14-0 at the South Field in the Bronx. The second game was postponed due to rain. No makeup date has been announced at this time.

 

The Blue Knights set the tone of the game early by plating nine runs in a first inning that saw Mount Saint Mary record six hits and draw three walks. The early nine run advantage was more than enough for starter Erin Lappe who pitched a complete game, five inning no-hitter while hitting a batter, walking two, and striking out 10.

 

Offensively for Mount Saint Mary, Jessica Thibault finished 2-for-5 with a homerun, a triple, three runs scored, and three RBI's. Christina Maiocco finished 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI's. For the game, the Blue Knights recorded 13 hits and drew 10 walks.

The Lightning will return to action Thursday afternoon, as the team will complete a halted game against the Brooklyn College Bridges. Currently, the game is in the top of the fourth inning, with Brooklyn College leading the game, 9-4. The continuation will begin at 1:30pm. Following that, the Lightning will play their originally scheduled non-conference doubleheader against St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn, with the first game slated for 3:00pm.
