Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman softball team closed out its 2026 season in emphatic fashion, sweeping York College in a tripleheader at South Field behind dominant pitching, explosive innings, and key performances across the lineup.
In game one, Lehman powered its way to a 15–0 victory, breaking the game open with a seven-run second inning. The rally featured multiple walks, stolen bases, and timely hits, including an RBI single from Nicolle Swierczek, while Miley Estrella and Zenaya Ortiz each drove in runs. Lehman continued to add on in later innings, capitalizing on wild pitches and defensive miscues to extend the lead. Patty Sanchez reached base multiple times, stole bases, and scored during key stretches as Lehman scored in four different innings.
Game two saw Lehman continue its momentum in a 14–0 shutout win. The Lightning struck early with a four-run first inning, using aggressive baserunning, including steals of second, third, and home, to build momentum. Patty Sanchez went 4-for-4, including a triple, and scored four runs, contributing in multiple innings. In the third inning, Lehman added five runs, with RBIs from Zenaya Ortiz, Lanaiyah Henriquez, and others extending the lead. The fourth inning brought four more runs, fueled by walks, errors, and continued pressure on the basepaths. While doing so, Damaris Adames controlled the game throughout, finishing with 9 strikeouts and reaching 100 strikeouts on the season.
In the finale, Lehman completed the sweep with a 13–2 victory, using a five-run second inning and a seven-run fourth inning to take control. The second inning rally included multiple hits and RBIs from Leilani Tejada and Nicolle Swierczek, while Patty Sanchez contributed with hits and runs scored. In the fourth inning, Lehman took advantage of errors and added RBIs from Lanaiyah Henriquez and Zenaya Ortiz to break the game open. Lehman scored across multiple innings, combining timely hitting with aggressive baserunning to seal the win.
With contributions up and down the roster and a milestone performance from Damaris Adames, the Lightning closed their season with a 4-23 mark and 2-8 in CUNYAC play, along with confidence and impact, finishing strong at South Field.
