Non-Conference Schedule Unkind to Lightning on Saturday

Saturday's tri-match action on the campus of SUNY Old Westbury proved to be too much for the visiting Lighting as they dropped both non-conference matches to fall to 7-7 overall.

Boasting a 10-4 overall record, SUNY Old Westbury grabbed the first match 3-1 despite a 25-21 first set win by the Lightning. The Panthers would go on to take the next three sets 25-11, 25-15 and 25-22. Vanessa Brown picked up where she left off on Thursday night tallying nine kills to pace the Lightning while Tynishia George led the way for the Panthers with 12 kills and 12 digs.

Game two of the tri-match brought a familiar foe for the Lightning in William Paterson University, who had beaten them previously in their first game of the season. Unfortunately for Lehman, the result was also similar this time around as they dropped the match in straight sets 25-13, 25-11 and 25-20. Gerri-Ann Martin notched nine kills and 13 digs in the losing effort while Lakeisha Gordon chipped in with seven kills.

Lehman gets a bit of a break in the schedule to regroup before traveling to the College of New Rochelle on Friday to play matches against Brooklyn College as well as the host school. Action gets under way at 6:30 p.m.
