Lightning Building Towards CUNYAC Schedule

The winter season got underway for the men's and women's swimming and diving teams as they suffered tough losses to both Manhattan College and Pace University in their first two meets.

Despite the defeats, both teams continue to build towards the CUNYAC portion of the schedule. On the men's side sophomore Ivan Srdanovic finished first in the men's 100-yard freestyle against the Jaspers with a time of 51.55 while senior Chip Shala came in third in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.78 against Manhattan College and third again in the 200-yard freestyle against the Setters in 2:06.57. Joaquin Cruz and Wesley Canini took first and second place in both diving diving events for the men.

The women, in losing to Manhattan and Pace, featured several noteworthy performances as well. Joely Bernat came in third for the women's 50-yard freestyle at 30.22 in the meet against Manhattan College. Divers Cassandra Gentile and Mailys Besnard also did exceptionally well in the one and three meter diving competition.

The Lightning will face the William Paterson Pioneers on Saturday November 13th in the Apex aquatic center at 1:00pm.
