William Paterson Edges Lightning in Swimming and Diving Meet

The Lehman men's and women's swimming teams continued their non-conference schedule this past Saturday, dropping a dual decision to visiting William Paterson University to fall to 0-3 on the season.

With the team still rounding into form in anticipation of its first CUNYAC matchup on Tuesday night, many of the Lightning achieved their best individual times despite a tally in the loss column. On the men's side, Lehman's Ivan Srdanovic edged out the Pioneers Eddie Zappile to take the 100-yard freestyle, posting a time of 50.99 to Zappile's 51.31. For the women, strong races were swam by Tanaka Nyemba in the 500-yard freestyle and Adrianna Navarrete in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. Special recognition goes to tough-as-nails sophomore Aytaissa Estime-Fitzpatrick who competed with a broken metatarsal in her foot.

Lehman will travel to the new aquatics center on the campus of Brooklyn College this Tuesday to kick off the CUNYAC portion of its schedule.
