Second Half Run By Ospreys Too Much For Lightning in Loss

Nov., 19, 2010

Box Score

Nearly five minutes into the Lightning's matinee with Richard Stockton College, Louvinia Hayes hit a layup to give Lehman a 7-6 lead.

Little did Coach Eric Harrison know that it would be the last time during the day that his team would hold a lead in losing 77-55 to the Ospreys in the first game of this weekend's 29th Annual Scotty Wood Tournament on the campus of Muhlenberg College.

Despite trailing only 31-25 at halftime, the Lightning was done in by a blistering 62 percent shooting performance in the second half by Richard Stockton.  Lehman was within striking distance following a layup by Alicia McDaniel at the 13:28 mark of the second half that made it 41-37, but a 21-10 run by the Ospreys over the next six and half minutes sealed the Lightning's fate. The game-changing run featured scoring contributions from six different Osprey players, including back-to-back three-pointers by Aliyah Nelson.

The New Jersey school also produced a decided 50-36 edge on the backboards thanks to 5-foot-7 freshman forward Lauren Alwan (13 rebounds, 15 points) and 6-foot-1 sophomore forward Noelle Hogan (12 rebounds).

In the loss, Lehman received solid contributions from Hayes (17 points, 7 rebounds), McDaniel (10 points, 2 blocks) and Amanda De La Cruz (12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals).

The Lightning will play in tomorrow's consolation game of the tourney against the loser of the Muhlenberg versus Mount Saint Vincent nightcap.
