Meet Results
The Lehman swimming and diving team split Thursday's meet with its local counterpart, SUNY Maritime, as the women's team emerged victorious, 137-81, while the men's team fell in defeat, 178-61.
For the women, it was their third consecutive victory following wins over Brooklyn College and John Jay College and improves their overall record to 3-3. The men now stand at 1-4 overall.
Junior
Basilisa Alonso was a three-event winner for the Lightning, capturing first in the 200-yard IM (2:39.15), 100-yard butterfly (1:12.50) and 500-yard freestyle (6:36.78). Sophomore Adrianna Navarrete was also a multiple event winner, taking the top spot in both the 50-yard freestyle (28.33) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:17.13).
Tanaka Nyemba set a personal best time to touch the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle (1:06.65) while
Mailys Besnard captured both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions over Maritime's Laura Palino.
Additionally, multiple members of the women's team set personal best times, including
Sylvia Churchill in the 1000-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly;
Sheena Cochrane in her 50-yard leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay;
Alejandra Lopez in the 100-yard freestyle;
Taina Mirville in the 50-yard freestyle and her leg of the 200-yard freestyle;
Rosy Perez in the 200-yard freestyle as well as her legs of the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay;
Stephanie Segarra in the 200-yard IM; and
Christhel Lopez in the 100-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle, during which she cut a whopping 31.93 seconds off her best time.
A number of personal best times were set as well on the men's side including:

Joaquin Cruz (freestyle relay),
John Fraticelli (50-yard freestyle),
Diorvic Gonzalez (100-yard butterfly),
Syed Hassan (50-yard freestyle),

Matthew Martinez (1000-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle),
Ryan Roberts (100-yard backstroke), Ray Rodriguez (100-yard breaststroke), Chip Shala (50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle) and
Vincent Subervi (100-yard backstroke).
The Lightning women return to the pool on December 10th when they travel to Hunter College looking for a repeat of last season's outcome, a 116-114 win. The Lightning men don't return to the pool until January 10th against Baruch College.
