Game 1 Box Score
Game 2 Box Score

The Lehman College softball team (2-7 Overall, 0-2 CUNYAC) dropped a pair of CUNYAC games on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Hunter College Hawks by scores of 12-0 and 9-1 at Randall's Island.

In game one of the day, Hunter College's Arielle Zieff paced the Hawks at the dish as she finished 2-for-3 with three runs batted in and one run scored. Stephanie Damroth also contributed by going 2-for 3 with a run scored and batted in. She also picked up the victory by hurling a complete-game, five-inning no-hitter, striking out 11 batters. For Lehman College, it was Racine Brown taking the loss for the Lightning after she allowed nine earned runs while striking out six batters in four innings of work.

In game two of the day, the Lightning jumped on the board first when Bethany Rodriguez doubled and was driven home by a single by Natalie Martinez. Hunter then tied the game in the bottom of the second inning when junior outfielder Christina Baker doubled to bring Zieff home.

An inning later, with two runners on, senior Jacqueline Frank brought in both after reaching on an error by Genesis Batista. Hunter College would tack on two additional runs before the end of the inning to take a 6-1 lead. Then in the top of the fourth, Frank sent a shot deep to left field that was mishandled by Racine Brown, and that would result in three runs coming in for the Hawks. Hunter held a 9-1 lead heading into the top of the fifth and the Lightning were unable to plate a run in that frame, as the mercy rule was then enforced, giving Hunter the doubleheader sweep.

Frank would finish with a game high four runs batted in after going hitless, reaching both times on errors. Zieff once against led the Hawks in hitting, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Lauren Stensland got the win for Hunter College, going five innings, striking out six batters and allowing three hits and one earned run. Martinez got the start for the Lightning, striking out one batter and giving up seven earned runs in four innings on the mound.

The Lightning will return to action Monday afternoon when Lehman College will take to the road to battle Baruch College in a CUNYAC doubleheader, with the first game scheduled for noon.
