The Lehman (1-1 overall, 1-1 CUNYAC) women's tennis team bounced back from defeat to post its first victory of the season on Thursday afternoon topping Medgar Evers in dominating fashion, 9-0.
Lehman's No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles players all captured straight set victories without surrendering a game to their Medgar Evers opponents with Natalee Smith topping Lennox Thompson (6-0, 6-0), Dahlia Rodriguez slowing Ja'Net Goodwin (6-0, 6-0) and Alexandria Reel beating Ashley Brown (6-0, 6-0). Yasmin Samuels and Ashley Cox each lost a game to their respective opponents Giselle Strochan (6-0, 6-1) and Anneca Thomas (6-0, 6-1).
The toughest match of the day came from No. 1 singles action as Ravnit Bhatia outlasted Roneke Brown 6-4 in the first set before putting her away 6-0 in the second.
In doubles action, Bhatia and Smith downed Browne and Thompson 8-0, Rodriguez and Samuels clipped Goodwin and Strachan 8-1, and Reel and Cox teamed to beat Brown and Thomas 8-1.
The Lightning return to the courts at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday September 14 when they welcome CUNYAC rival City Tech to the Bronx.
