Women's Tennis Loses Non-Conference Match to WPUNJ

The Lehman College women's tennis team fell to 2-2 (1-0 CUNYAC) on the season after losing 9-0 in a non-conference matchup to host William Paterson University (3-1 overall, 0-1 NJAC) on Wednesday afternoon.

In three of the four singles matches, William Paterson handled the Lightning as Sonja Pederson defeated Natalee Smith 6-2, 6-0 in No. 1 singles; Mary Skretkowicz downed Krystina Nguyen 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2 singles; and Delnaz Shalforoosh beat Daraliz Collado 6-2, 6-3 in No. 3 singles.

Lehman's Alexandria Reel nearly grabbed her No. 4 singles match against Maris Ferreira despite falling in the first set 6-1.  Reel mounted a second set charge, winning 7-5 before ultimately losing the match in the third set 10-3.

In doubles action, William Paterson's No. 1 doubles team of Shalforoosh and Skretkowicz defeated Reel and Smith 8-1 while the Pioneers No. 2 doubles team of Sonja Pedersen and Justine Lawson defeated Collado and Nguyen 8-6.

Unfortunately for Lehman the final margin of victory occurred via forfeit which cost the Lightning a chance at third doubles and fifth and sixth singles.

Lehman next unzips its rackets from their bags on Friday afternoon at 3:30 when they host New Rochelle.
