Gryphons Soar to Victory Over Lightning

Things started and ended well for the Lehman Lightning women's tennis team on Wednesday afternoon on the campus of Sarah Lawrence College.

It was the in between that was the problem.

Lehman took the opening match of the day as the No. 1 doubles pairing of Ravnit Bhatia and Natalee Smith bested Antonia Aglialoro and Laura Fenney 8-4.

Sarah Lawrence rebounded, however, to take the final two matches. Mary Kim and Ali Berman defeated Krystina Nguyen and Alexandria Reel 8-3 in No. 2 doubles, and Gwen Adamo and Antonia Verdi won by default over Dalia Rodriguez and Daraliz Collado in No. 3 action.

The Gryphons poured it on in singles play with their top five players taking care of business. Santarsiero downed Bhatia 10-1 in No. 1 action; Aglialoro topped Smith 10-3 in No. 2 action; Sarah Morris, fresh from having bypassed doubles play handled Nguyen 10-1 in third singles; Fenney smothered Reel 10-1 in No. 4 play; and Berman stopped Rodriguez 10-2.

Collado salvaged the singles action for the Lighting by winning her No. 6 match against Kim 10-3.

Lehman returns to CUNYAC action on Friday afternoon with a 3:30 p.m. tilt at Baruch.
