Meet Results

The Lehman men's and women's swim teams found their groove during Tuesday's dual meet as both earned key conference wins over visiting York College with the men upending the Cardinals 93-71 while the women scored an 82-70 victory.

Sophomore Sylvia Churchill notched two first place finishes for the Lightning taking the 200-yard IM and 500-yard freestyle. Also grabbing official first place finishes for Lehman were Basilisa Alonso (1000-yard freestyle), Nik Shala (1000-yard freestyle), Ivan Srdanovic (200-yard freestyle), Joely Bernat (50-yard freestyle), Chris Mammano (50-yard freestyle), Chip Shala (200-yard IM), and Nadia Alie (100-yard breaststroke).

Senior Mingfan Sun swam exceptionally well despite not officially placing in many events due to having swam under the exhibition category. His times in the 1000-yard freestyle (13:39.05), 200-yard freestyle (2:24.07), 50-yard freestyle (27.22), 100-yard butterfly (1:11.75), 100-yard freestyle (1:03.41), 100-yard backstroke (1:10.89), and 500-yard freestyle (6:42.23) all would have been good for second overall. His time in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.46) would have given him the top spot.

Lehman also captured the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions with freshman Mailys Besnard and sophomore Manaury Duarte leading the way.

Both the men and women are back in action on Saturday when SUNY Old Westbury travels to the Bronx for a 1 p.m. meet.
