PURCHASE, N.Y. - The impressive start to the 2011-12 season continued for the Lehman men's swim team as it defeated SUNY Purchase 113-85 on Friday night to improve to 2-1.
The Lightning women's team was not as fortunate, dropping a 103-71 decision to fall to 0-3.
Lehman's men's team took seven of the 11 events held. Freshman
Ramon Peralta was a two event winner, taking the 200-yard IM (2:15.03) and the 100-yard backstroke (57.80). Also capturing wins for the Lightning were
Ivan Srdanovic in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:29.58),
Christopher Polanco in the 50-yard freestyle (23.69),
Abel Dupres in the 100-yard butterfly and
Christopher Mammano in the 500-yard freestyle (6:03.70).
On the women's side, junior
Yocari Almanzar was a bright spot, winning the 1000-yard freestyle (14:31.25) and the 500-yard freestyle (7:01.40). Fellow junior
Adriana Navarrete placed second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:27.18) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:03.00).
The Lehman women return to action against John Jay on November 22 while the men do not hit the water again until December 6.
