The Lehman Lightning softball team evened its record at 2-2 on Saturday afternoon, topping an overmatched New York City College of Technology in two five inning contests by the scores of 28-0 and 26-3 to sweep the doubleheader.
In the day's first game, junior
Natalie Martinez starred on the mound and at the plate. The Lehman righthander did not allow a hit until the fourth inning to pick up her first win of the season. At the dish she was equally as good, going 3-for-5 with a double and triple, three RBIs and three runs scored. Freshman
Jelsey Cox matched Martinez's line at the plate, collecting three hits and three RBI of her own, while scoring four runs.
The Lightning's offensive onslaught continued in the second game as the team pounded out eight extra base hits, with six Lehman players collecting at least two RBIs a piece.
Toni Angel Puya was 3-for-4 with three RBIs thanks to two well struck triples, while
Nicole Pinero also drove in three. Sophomore
Genesis Batista notched a pair of doubles to record her two RBIs.
Senior
Lakeisha Gordon collected her first win of the season, punching out eight Yellow Jackets on her way to the complete game victory.
Lehman hits the road for its next game as it travels to Long Island to take on SUNY Farmingdale on Monday afternoon.
