Amidst arctic temperatures in the Bronx, the Lehman softball team saw its record drop to 2-4 overall on Monday night, falling in a doubleheader to visiting College of Staten Island 13-1 and 28-1.
Despite the Lightning's sub-par defense - the Lightning committed 14 errors in the second game - several Dolphins nonetheless enjoyed big days at the plate, including third baseman Kaitlyn Flynn, who went a combined 5-for-9 with seven RBIs; Stephanie Solari, who was a perfect 4-for-4 with a homerun and six RBIs in the second game; Danielle Ponsiglione, a combined 4-for-9 with seven RBIs; and shortstop Raechel Strobel, who went 3-for-5 in the second game with five RBIs.
The Lightning was able to scratch out only six hits during the double dip, with
Nicole Pinero and
Genesis Batista responsible for the Lightning runs on the day.
Lehman hurlers
Natalie Martinez (1-2) and Batista (0-2) each took a loss.
Conference play continues on Wednesday for the Lightning, as the Hunter Hawks travel to the Bronx for a doubleheader.
