JAMAICA, N.Y. - The Lehman men's and women's swim teams wrapped up the conference portion of their schedules on Monday evening, defeating host York College by a combined score of 194-124.

The Lightning women were victorious 96-73, while the men won handily as well, 98-51.

“We swam what we needed in order to qualify swimmers for CUNY's and to get more experience,” said head coach Peter Kiernan.  “I was happy with their effort all around and the enthusiasm they showed for trying new events with an eye on the championships.”

As a result of the mixing and matching by the Lightning, the usual suspects were not standing atop the winner's podium for their best events.  However, the team still produced multiple event winners with Yocari Almanzar taking the 200-meter freestyle (2:59.29) and the 400-meter freestyle (6:20.02) and Ivan Srdanovic grabbing the 50-meter freestyle (26.20) and the 400-meter freestyle (4:37.42).

In the closest race of the meet, Adriana Navarrete notched first in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 30.35, which was more than a second better than runner-up Averie Mohammed's time of 31.95.

Lehman is back in the pool on Wednesday night when SUNY Maritime visits the APEX Aquatics Center for a 6 p.m. meet.
