BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's and men's swimming and diving teams hosted local rival the College of Mt. St. Vincent on Friday night, with the Lehman men winning 96-75, and the CMSV women winning 102-88. The event took place at the Lehman College APEX.
Leading the women was freshman Taylor Biegel (Rye. N.Y./Rye Neck), who shattered the old school record in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:21.81.
Biegel also won the 200-individual medley, with a time of 2:41.27, and the 100-free, with a time of 1:03.96, out-touching her nearest opponent at the wall.
Also winning for the women was freshman Daisy Berisha (Bronx, N.Y./Brooklyn Tech) in the 1-meter diving competition.
On the men's side, five different swimmers won individual events: senior Chris Mammano (Flushing, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) in the 1000-free in 11:46.87, sophomore Chris Polanco (Bronx, N.Y./Aviation) in the 200-free in 1:57.76, freshman Jeremy Guerra (Bronx, N.Y./Dreamyard Prep) in the 50-free in 26.39, senior Shqiprim Shala (Queens, N.Y./John Adams) in the 200-IM in 2:22.39, and sophomore Ramon Peralta (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Leadership) in the 100-free in 49.58.
Both teams have completed the first half of the season, and will be off until January 3, when the Lightning head to Brooklyn College for a CUNYAC meet.
