Split Night at APEX Aquatics Center for Lehman Swimming Programs

BRONX, N.Y. – It was a split night for the Lehman College women's and men's swimming and diving teams on Tuesday, as the women lost to Old Westbury, 102-77, while the men beat Old Westbury, 153-80. The meet was the first held in the APEX Aquatics Center this season.

For the women, junior Aytaissa Estime-Kirkpatrick (New York, N.Y./LS3) was a double-winner, finishing first in the 1000-free in 14:05.98, and the 100-butterfly, with a time of 1:21.98. Freshman Susana Perez (New York, N.Y./Community Health) took the 100-back in 1:18.44, while freshman Taylor Biegel (Rye, N.Y./Rye Neck) won the 100-breast in 1:25.81.

On the men's side, sophomore Abel Dupres was the sole double-winner, claiming the 100-free in 47.96, and the 500-free in 5:38.67. Other winners included senior Christopher Mammano (Flushing, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) in the 1000-free in 12:08.67, sophomore Chris Polanco (Bronx, N.Y./Aviation) in the 200-free in 1:57.17, freshman Anthony Preda (Long Island City, N.Y./Basha) in the 100-fly in 54.94, and freshman Jose Polanco (Woodside, N.Y./American Studies) in the 100-breast in 1:05.76. Additionally, junior Nelson Medina won the 3-meter diving competition with 148.73 points.

The women's swimming team will compete again at Hunter College on Friday, December 7, at 6:00 p.m., while the men will take the weekend off, and return to the APEX Aquatics Center on December 14, hosting the College of Mt. St. Vincent.
