Bronx, N.Y.-  Some might say it was the perfect weather for a soccer game while Lehman fans might say it was the perfect storm for Lightning play.

Fans excitedly lined up Friday afternoon to bear witness to another historical event; The Lehman College women's soccer team conquer their first win of the season defeating the Yeshiva Maccabees 4-1.

The inaugural Lightning team took to the field with much of the anxiety and pressure most new teams face. That, however, seemed to leave freshman middle forward Juliana Generoso unwaivered throughout the game as she scored two goals for Lehman. The first one happened within two minutes of kick off as she sped down the mid field and blasted the ball passed the goalie and into the net. Lehman held the 1-0 lead for the rest of the first half.

Yeshiva tried to redeem themselves in the second half. At the four minute mark, the Maccabees' Natasha Basalion shot one goal passed Lehman's goalie tying the game.

At 23:36, Lehman's Samantha Dias takes a corner kick for the Lightning's possession crossing the ball to Generoso who rips it straight into the net, earning her second goal and boosting the lead 2-1.

Less than two minutes later, freshman foward Tiffany Altamirano places a shot into the right corner of the net for another goal. Altamirano continued to impress as she stole the ball from Yeshiva and effortlessly kicked it passed the goalies box.

The non-conference win helps start the Lightning record 1-0 to begin the season.

The Lightning will return to the field to play against St. Joseph's Brooklyn. Kick off will begin at 7:30pm on the South Field.
