Women's Soccer Falls to St. Joseph's 3-0

Lightning Even Record at 1-1

Box Score BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's soccer team evened its record at 1-1-0 on Thursday night, dropping a 3-0 decision to St. Joseph's of Brooklyn. The game was played in front of over 300 people on the South Field.

The Bears (1-0-0) opened the scoring in just the third minute of the contest on a set piece. SJC took a corner from the keeper's right, and sent the ball into the box, where Pam Chernyakhovsky knocked it past a sprawling Mayra Shuguli (Yonkers, N.Y./John F. Kennedy).

SJC scored twice more in the second half, getting goals from Cynthia Gambino and Daniella Valencia.

Lehman had several offensive chances throughout the game, but could not convert any opportunities. Shuguli made three saves for Lehman.

It is a quick turnaround for the Lightning, who return to action on Saturday, September 8, at the College of Staten Island. Kickoff is slated for noon.
