BRONX, N.Y. – It was a split night in the Lehman College Aquatics Center on Thursday night, as the Lightning hosted William Paterson University. The Lehman men won 128-115, as the women lost 119-84. The Lightning celebrated Senior Night, as this is the final home and final regular season meet of the year.
On the men's side, freshman Anthony Preda (Long Island City, N.Y./Basha) set a new school record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.50. The previous record was 1:01.78, set by Joseph Bodden in 2008.
Double winners were senior Ivan Srdanovic (Roosevelt Island, N.Y./NYC Lab), in the 1000- and 500-free, and sophomore Abel Dupres (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton), in the 50-free and the 100-butterfly.
Swimming in their final home meet were Aytaissa Estime-Kirkpatrick (New York, N.Y./LS3), Chris Mammano (Flushing, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy), Chip Shala (Queens, N.Y./John Adams), and Srdanovic.
The Lightning will now prepare for the ever important CUNY Athletic Conference Championships, which will be held January 31 through February 2, at the Lehman College APEX Aquatics Center. Tickets, which are free of charge, may be reserved at www.cunyathletics.com/tickets.
