BROOKLYN, N.Y. – A split night was in the cards for the Lehman College women's and men's swimming and diving teams, as they competed at Brooklyn College on Thursday evening. The Lehman women fell 103-73, while the men claimed a 112-102 victory.
For the women, Brooklyn's depth was a major factor for the Bulldogs. Individual winners for the Lightning were junior Aytaissa Estime-Kirkpatrick (New York, N.Y./LS 3) in :30.18 in the 50-free, freshman Susana Perez (New York, N.Y./Community Health) in the 200-IM in 2:54.43, and freshman Daisy Berisha (Bronx, N.Y./Brooklyn Tech) in the 1-meter diving competition.
For the men, freshman Ivan Srdanovic (Bronx, N.Y./NYC Lab) made an immediate impact in his first meet for the Lightning, as he joined the team at the semester break. He was a double-winner, claiming the 1000-free in 11:05.13, a full minute and a half faster than the closest competitor, and the 100-free, in :50.08. Also winning twice was sophomore Abel Dupres (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton), who won the 100-fly in :54.68, and the 200-free, in 1:52.03, nipping teammate Anthony Preda (Long Island City, N.Y./Basha) by .83 seconds.
Both teams take a week off before resuming the CUNYAC slate with a date at the College on Staten Island on January 8, at 6:00 p.m.
