Women's Tennis Rolls Over St. Joseph's of Brooklyn, 8-1

BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's tennis team has found its swing, and defeated visiting St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon, 8-1. The match was played on the APEX tennis courts, on a beautiful, 74 degrees day.

Lehman has now won three of its last four matches, and is 3-6 on the season. SJC is 0-3.

The Lightning swept all three doubles matches, and never looked back. Junior Nellya Blinova (Moscow, Russia/School Number 1) set the tone for singles action, winning at first, 6-0, 6-1.

Also winning in singles play were junior Gabriela Harewood (Bronx, N.Y/Brooklyn Tech) at third, sophomore Neralda Zuniga (New York, N.Y./Dual Language & Asian Studies) at fourth, junior Jhanelle Mullings (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) at fifth, and freshman Lynessa George (Bronx, N.Y./New Covenant Christian) at sixth.

Lehman looks to continue to accumulate wins on Wednesday, October 2, hosting Hunter College in a CUNY Athletic Conference matchup.
