BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's and women's swimming and diving teams settled for a split with Baruch College on Friday evening. The women's team fell, 133-77, while the men were victorious by a score of 137-89.
Prior to the start of the meet, Lehman College celebrated and thanked eight seniors on Senior Day, as they were swimming in their final home regular season meet. There are Adriana Navarrete (Lima, Peru/Law and Community Service) and Aytaissa Estime-Kirkpatrick (New York, N.Y./LS3) for the women, and John Fraticelli (Bronx, N.Y./New School for Arts and Sciences), Joshua George (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers), Nelson Medina (Peekskill, N.Y./Lehman H.S.), Ramon Peralta (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Leadership Academy), Idris Perovic (Brooklyn, N.Y./Health Professions) and Luis Salazar (Bronx, N.Y./J.P. McCaskey) for the men.
In the meet, Navarrete earned first place in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in 27.46. Sophomore Elizabeth Oladele (Bronx, N.Y./A.P. Randolph) later won the 100-breaststroke.
On the men's side, Peralta made the most of his last regular season home meet, by winning all three races he competed in. He took first place in the 50-free with a time of 22.67, the 100-back race, finishing in 54.90, and was a member of the winning 200-medley relay team.
George ended his home regular season career in style as he won both the one and three meter diving events.
The Lightning have two regular season road meets next week, prior to hosting the CUNY Athletic Conference Championships. Should the men's team win at York on Tuesday night, they will lock up a second place finish in the CUNYAC regular season.
