BRONX, N.Y. – This weekend provides a few exciting athletic events at Lehman College, with three teams in action.
Men's soccer travels to Randall's Island to face John Jay on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are fighting for seeding in the upcoming CUNY Athletic Conference Championships, which begin next Wednesday. Two-time CUNYAC Player of the Week Hugh Campbell (Bronx, N.Y./Evander Childs) and sophomore striker Essosa Aluyi (Nagoya, Japan/Elmont Memorial) will lead the Lehman offensive charge, as sophomore goalkeeper Jesus Marin (East Harlem, N.Y./Manhattan Village Academy) anchors the defense. Unfortunately, live stats are not available for this match.
On Sunday morning, the women's and men's cross country teams will compete in the CUNYAC Championships, held at nearby Van Cortlandt Park. The women's race begins at 9:30 a.m., with the men's race to follow, at about 10:30 a.m. The women will be led by Allie Bernasconi (Beacon, N.Y./John Jay) and senior Thamare Rejouis (Brooklyn, N.Y./Science Skills Center). For the men, expect sophomore John Pollina (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) to be a contender for the gold medal.
