Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's cross-country team ran dual meets on Sunday in Central Park, with local rivals Hunter College and meet hosts CCNY falling by identical scores of 31-24.
Leading the charge for the Lightning was
Marc Saint-Hilaire, who captured the individual gold medal in the men's 5K run. Saint-Hilaire crossed the finish line in a blistering 18:35, narrowly edging out Jayron Salazar of the CCNY Beavers in a thrilling sprint for first place.
On the women's side, a short-handed Lightning squad fought hard against Yeshiva University & Hunter College.
Amanda Montano put on a stellar individual performance, cruising past the competition to finish first overall in the women's 5K with a time of 21:45. Unfortunately, because a depleted roster left Lehman without enough active runners to post an official team score, the Maccabees & Hawks were awarded a 15-0 team victory, respectively.
Lehman will look to carry this momentum out to Long Island on Saturday, October 17th, when they travel to compete in the St. Joseph's University-LI Invitational. The first race of the afternoon is scheduled to break at noon.
