Mejia's Strong Effort Not Enough as Women's Swimming Falls to John Jay

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's swimming and diving team dropped its CUNY Athletic Conference opener to host John Jay, 52-43, on Tuesday evening.

Freshman Angela Mejia (Bronx, N.Y.) was a triple-winner for the Lightning (0-1 CUNYAC). She earned first place in the 100-free with a time of 1:00.75. She also earned gold in the 50-free, completing the race in 27.84. Mejia was also a member of the first place 200 medley relay team along with sophomore Victoria Michalatos (Elmsford, N.Y./Briarcliff), junior Elizabeth Oladele (Bronx, N.Y./A. Philip Randolph), and junior Susana Perez (New York, N.Y./Community Health Academy) as they earned a time of 2:14.64.

The Lightning will continue the road trip on Monday, as the Lightning men's and women's teams will face local rival SUNY Maritime in Throggs Neck, N.Y.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
