THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped a non-conference dual meet to local rival SUNY Maritime, on Monday evening. The women lost by a score of 130-74 while the men were defeated 147-59.
Freshman
Angela Mejia (Bronx, N.Y.) once again led the way for the women as she earned gold in the 100-breast, finishing the race in 1:17.60, setting a new school record.
For the men, junior
Anthony Preda (Long Island City, N.Y./Basha) was a double winner, winning the 200 IM by over 11 seconds and earned first place in the 100-breast with a time of 1:04.51. Classmate
Jeremy Guerra (Bronx, N.Y./Dreamyard Prep) earned gold in the 100-free by less than a second.
Both the Lightning men's and women's teams will continue their non-conference road trip, on Thursday, at Old Westbury. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
