OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – It was a successful night for the Lehman College swimming and diving teams as the Lightning swept the College at Old Westbury, on Thursday evening. The women won 106-82 while the men were victorious, 98-82.
Leading the way for the women was freshman
Angela Mejia (Bronx, N.Y.) who was a triple winner for the second time this year. She earned gold in the 100-breast with a time of 1:18.48. She also finished first in the 200-free (2:13.93) and 100-free (59.76).
Junior
Christy Maldonado (Brooklyn, N.Y./Academy of Finance & Enterprise) was a double winner by claiming first in the 500-free (7:23.20) and also earned gold in the 1000-free (15:38.43). Junior
Mosebopetan Oladele (Bronx, N.Y./A. Philip Randolph) was the winner of the 50-free with a time of 30.78 while junior
Ericka Lewin (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Mount Vernon) finished first in the 200 IM, completing the race in 3:00.45.
Lehman also won the 200-medley relay in 2:39.39.
On the men's side, sophomore
Carlos Alonso (Yonkers, N.Y./Saunders), junior
Abel Dupres (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton), and junior
Jeremy Guerra (Bronx, N.Y./Dreamyard Prep) were each triple winners. They were members of the first place 200-medley relay team, along with junior
Anthony Preda (Long Island City, N.Y./Basha), that finished with a time of 1:41.77. Dupres finished first in the 100-back with a time of 56.02 and also earned gold in the 50-free (22.06). Alonso claimed first in the 500-free in 5:35.31 and in the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.19. Guerra won the 200-free (1:55.00) and 100-free (54.78).
Junior
Enes Mernica (Bronx, N.Y./Belmont Prep) also had a productive night, winning the 100-fly (59.15) and the 1000-free (11:32.02).
The Lightning will have their first home meet of the season on Monday, as the men's and women's teams will battle Purchase College, at 6:00 p.m.
