Softball Drops Doubleheader to CMSV

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team dropped a pair of games to the College of Mount Saint Vincent on the South Field on Tuesday evening. The Lightning dropped game one by a score of 18-5 and fell in game two, 9-0.

In the opening game, the Lightning could not overcome the Dolphins' powerful offensive attack. Lehman was able to get two runs in the bottom of the second, as senior Sheila San Andres (Woodhaven, N.Y./Construction Trade) doubled, driving in sophomore shortstop Jona Kerluku (Ozone Park, N.Y./Construction Trade) and junior first basemen Ashley Williams (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Leadership Academy).

In the bottom of the third, the Lightning had a runner on third with only one out when freshman pitcher Meghan Bravo (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) reached on an error at second, scoring sophomore outfielder Chariny Graciano (Jackson Heights, N.Y./Information Technology). In the bottom of the fourth, Graciano drew a bases loaded walk and sophomore catcher Kyala Cruz (Brooklyn, N.Y./American Senior) hit an RBI single.

In the second game, Lehman (2-2) ran into a hot pitcher and the Dolphins' (2-0) productive hitting continued. Lehman was able to get a rally going in the bottom of the seventh, as Williams and Kerluku both reached base safely. With the two runners on second and third, San Andres hit a deep fly ball to left field, which was tracked down at the fence to preserve the victory for Mount Saint Vincent.

The Lightning will return to the South Field for a doubleheader against Purchase College on Thursday. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
