Box Score 2 BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team dropped a doubleheader at conference powerhouse Brooklyn College on Saturday, 10-0, and 9-2. Lehman is now 8-20 overall, and 2-8 the CUNYAC, while Brooklyn is 21-11 overall, and 10-2 in the CUNYAC.
In the opener, Lehman managed just three hits. In the second game, the Lightning struck early, as junior first baseman Ashley Williams (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Leadership) doubled home senior centerfielder Jelsey Cox (Queens Village, N.Y./Campus Magnet) with the game's first run. In the fifth inning, Williams had her second base hit of the game, this time driving home freshman second baseman Arlette Martinez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Newtown).
Up next, the Lightning have an extremely important CUNYAC doubleheader, hosting York College on Monday, April 21. Game One starts at 4:30 p.m., on the South Field. Right now, Lehman is in sixth place in the CUNYAC, while York is one game behind in seventh place. Lehman must at least split the doubleheader to secure a spot in the upcoming CUNYAC Championship.
