Bravo Drives in Two as Softball Falls at CSI

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team dropped a pair of CUNY Athletic Conference games to perennial powerhouse Staten Island on Saturday, 19-3, and 11-0. The games had been pushed back three hours in order to prepare the field for play, after last night's driving rain.

In the opener, the Lightning (3-11, 1-5) jumped out early, plating all three runs in the top of the first inning. Senior Sheila San Andres (Woodhaven, N.Y./Construction Trade) drove in the game's first run when CSI's shortstop couldn't field the ball cleanly. Two batters later, freshman Meghan Bravo (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) smashed a two-RBI single to centerfield, knocking in the second and third runs. In all, Lehman had four of its eight hits in that first inning.

CSI (9-4, 6-0) hit the ball well, scoring 19 unanswered runs on 16hits.

In the second game, CSI pitched their ace, who blanked the Lightning.

Up next, the Lightning will regroup, and head to face St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn for a doubleheader on Sunday.
