Barreto Nets Fifth Goal of Season as Women's Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision at CSI

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – After scoring the game's first goal, the Lehman College women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at the College of Staten Island on Saturday afternoon. Lehman is now 4-2-1 on the season, and 1-1-0 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. CSI is 3-3-1, and 2-0 CUNYAC.

Lehman freshman Lillian Barreto (Bronx, N.Y./Harry S. Truman) scored the game's first goal early in the second half, as she took a pass across the front of the net from junior Juliana Generoso (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) and easily slid the ball into the back of the net.

Roughly 18 minutes later, CSI got the equalizer on a corner kick. Then, with barely five minutes remaining in regulation, CSI clinched the victory with a breakaway goal.

On the day, Lehman freshman keeper Stephanie Gonzalez (Yonkers, N.Y./Gorton) made seven saves.

Up next, the Lightning will travel to face Medgar Evers College on Wednesday, September 24.
