JAMAICA, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's tennis team defeated York College, 9-0, in CUNY Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Ayanna Reed (New Rochelle, N.Y./Blessed Sacrament-St. Gabriel) led the way for the Lightning by winning at #1 singles, 6-0 and 6-1, and at #1 doubles, 8-0. Reed's partner in her doubles match was sophomore Lynessa George (Bronx, N.Y./New Covenant Christian)  who also won her #2 singles match by set scores of 6-3 and 6-2.

Sophomore Kantomalala Rasedoara (Woodside, N.Y./Newcomers) and classmate Taylor-Marie Soriano (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Nyack) won their #2 doubles match, 8-4. Individually, Rasedoara won at #3 singles, 6-1 and 6-0. Soriano competed in #4 singles, dropping the first set, 5-7, but coming back to win the second, 6-1. In the third set tiebreaker, Soriano earned a 10-4 win to clinch her first singles victory of the season.

Junior Neralda Zuniga (New York, N.Y./Dual Language & Asian Studies) won at #5 singles, 6-0 and 6-4 while classmate Katherine Otero (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx H.S. of Business) won a pair of sets at #6 singles by identical scores of 6-1. Both Zuniga and Otero won at #3 doubles, 8-1.

The Lightning will return to the APEX tennis courts on Saturday, September 27, for a non-conference contest with Kean University. The match is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
