Box Score The Lehman Lightning (11-2:5-0) cruised to a 5-0 victory over CCNY (1-11-1:1-4-1) on the South Field earlier today.
Juliana Generoso and
Chelsey Harris each netted a pair of goals for Lehman.
Pamela Sanchez was also credited with a goal, her fifth of the season.
The victory clinches the # 1 seed and a berth in the in the CUNYAC post season tournament for the Lightning. The tournament semi-finals are slated to take place November 4th at Brooklyn College; a remarkable story for a program that has only been in existence for four years.
The stats show the story in this contest as the Lightning outshot the Beavers 27-2. Harris got the game winner just 11:21 into the contest when she took a feed from Generoso at the penalty spot and buried it. In the 28
th minute, Generoso deflected a ball from
Lillian Barreto past the CCNY keeper to make int 2-0. Generoso netted her second of the match in the 37
th minute when she stole a ball from a CCNY defender and streaked to the goal placing it under a diving Emily Ramos to give the Lightning a 3-0 at half. 9:31 into the second half in was Sanchez's turn to tickle the back of the net. An assist was credited to Generoso. Harris rounded out the scoring in the 57
th minute heading the ball into the goal on a pass from
Michelle Reyes Ruiz.
The Lightning conclude their CUNYAC schedule on Wednesday night at John Jay. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM. Lehman's last regular season home game is Saturday, October 31
st. SUNY Canton will make an appearance on the South Field. Before the contest the Lehman will recognize the seniors on the squad. Kick-off against SUNY Canton is at Noon.
