Lightning Go Undefeated Through CUNYAC Play

The Lightning (12-2:6-0) cruise to victory, downing John Jay (2-9-2:1-2-2) 5-0 on Randall's Island. The win gives the Lightning an unblemished mark through the end of the CUNYAC schedule. The victory gives the Lightning back to back shut outs for the second time this season. The Lightning have scored 35 goals in conference play while only surrendering two.

Ten minutes into the contest, Chelsey Harris put Lehman on the scoreboard converting a pass from Daisy Narvaez in the penalty box. Eight minutes later Juliana Generoso doubled the Lightning lead as she converted on a breakaway. Harris was credited with the assist. Three minutes before the half-time whistle a Lillian Barreto shot found the back of the net to give the Lightning 3-0 at intermission.

Lehman kept the pressure on in the second half. Harris scored one minute into the second half as Barreto slipped a through ball behind the defense and Harris converted on a breakaway. Daisy Gomez rounded out the scoring in the 70^th minute with a strike from inside the penalty box.

The Lightning outshot the Bloodhounds 25-3. Lehman goal keeper Stephanie Gonzalez was credited with only one save. It was her seventh shut out the season.

Harris, only a freshman, has 19 goals on the season and ranks among the leaders nationally.

The Lightning end the regular season on Saturday, October 31^st against SUNY Canton on the South Field. Lehman will recognize the seniors on the squad in a pre-game ceremony commencing at 11:50 AM.

Lehman will be the number one seed in the CUNYAC post-season tournament. The tournament semi-finals will be contested on the campus of Brooklyn College. Game time will be either 4:00 PM or 6:30 PM against an opponent to be determined.
